Whereas Oxford County has advanced project works related to the Plattsville municipal drinking water system within its 2026 capital plan, reflecting continued collaboration with the Township of Blandford-Blenheim on local water infrastructure priorities; and, Whereas Council continues to receive feedback from residents and businesses regarding the documented hardness of the Plattsville municipal water supply, which, while an aesthetic concern, has ongoing negative impacts on plumbing, fixtures, and day-to-day water use; and, Whereas the Township acknowledges that the Plattsville drinking water system continues to meet all applicable provincial regulatory standards and that the water is safe for consumption; and, Whereas Council recognizes that there may be potential efficiencies in considering any feasible measures to address water hardness in coordination with the capital works that are now scheduled; Now Therefore Be It Resolved That Council respectfully request that Oxford County explore whether any additional or complementary measures may be feasible to mitigate the impacts of water hardness in the Plattsville system; and further, That any findings, options, or considerations arising from this review be reported to County Council for consideration, with the Township advised of the outcome as appropriate.
